Cream of East Midlands Business Graces East Midlands International Business Awards

A prestigious event marked this year’s East Midlands International Business Awards hosted by UK Trade & Investment, as the cream of local business talent descended upon the Marriott Hotel in Leicester.

The awards were presented at a ceremony which attracted more than 170 people including special guest speaker Matt Dawson, who was part of the England squad that took the country to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Now in their fourth year, the Awards recognised the talent of businesses across the East Midlands who are trading internationally and who are making a real difference to the prosperity of both their businesses and the region.

Romax TechnologyThe overall Award for East Midlands International Business of The Year went to Nottingham based Romax Technology, who has experienced huge success in China including contributing in the development of China’s largest and first offshore turbine.

Speaking at the event, Finance Director for Romax Technology, Paul Atkin said: “We’ve had a fantastic evening. This Award is great recognition for the hard work and dedication of the whole team at Romax Technology.

The Awards were presented by Ian Morrison, Deputy International Trade Director UKTI East Midlands with the opening address by Graham Cartledge CBE, Chairman for Benoy who paid special recognition to the wealth of business talent in the East Midlands and the need to grow the talent further through the employment of young people.

Speaking about this year’s Award ceremony which took place on Thursday, November 26th, Peter Hogarth, International Trade Director UKTI East Midlands said: “The Awards evening was a huge success. It was a real opportunity to celebrate all the success of companies that strive to ride the downturn and remain resilient.”
